50 Years After TV Wasteland Speech, Has Programming Improved? [POLL]

Fifty years ago today, upon May 9, 1961, U.S. Federal Communications Commission Chairman Newton N. Minow gave a debate during a National Association of Broadcasters where he referred to a radio landscape as a “vast wasteland.”

The speech, patrician “Television as well as a Public Interest,” is often cited as a single of a most appropriate American speeches in a 20th century. In 2007, a debate was declared series twenty-two in “The Best of Vital Speeches of a Day: twenty-five Speeches That Changed Our World.”
